  • Monday-Friday (Availability 7:30-4:30 PM)

  • 36-40 hours per week (hourly wage, non-exempt)

Job Description 

Drive deliveries to and from La Soupe to our partners, assist with shipping and receiving including sorting food for its end use.  Assist with inventory processes and quality control.

  Core Responsibilities:

  • Pick up and distribute food from our Rescue Partners (eg. food distributors, retailers, restaurants) to La Soupe and our Share Partners (eg. community organizations, pantries, health clinics) and events

  • Load, unload, log and properly store food immediately upon arrival at La Soupe

  • On-site quality control and inspection of food upon pickup and delivery

  • Maintains kitchen and food handling procedures, maintain ServSafe Certification

  • Develops and maintains high quality relationships with volunteers, coworkers and donors

  • Keeps refrigerators, freezers, and area clean and organized

  • Accurately prepares records for food rescue and delivery

  • Other responsibilities as assigned when time permits such as working with the dishwasher, kitchen, volunteers as needed

Job Duties:

  • Record all weights of Rescued/Shared produce/product 

  • Assist with proper food rotation and inventory management.

  • Meet and greet food runners and assist volunteers in removing Rescued/Shared  product from their car

  • Communicate both overages and shortages to Partner Relations Manager/Chief Giving Officer

  • Complete deliveries as needed, driving our box truck, van, and vehicles

  • Organize and set aside extra product for future shares/events

  • Assists with input of collected Rescue/Share data into specified software

  • Sort through all Rescued product to determine both quality and safety

  • Keeping in mind kitchen’s needs, distribute specified product between kitchen and Share

  • Keep work area clean and free of clutter, disposing of all material in appropriate receptacles

  • Keep refrigerators, freezers, and pantries clean and organized

  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards in work area and communicate needs as necessary

  • Keeps busy in down time, helping other areas as needed

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen, dish, and loading dock areas

  • Check/respond to work emails as needed

  • Follow closing checklist

  • Take out trash and recycling as needed

  • Reads, understands and can implement guidelines in the employee handbook

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license as well as a documented safe driving record. Must be able to successfully complete ServSafe certified food handler program. Prior food handling experience is a plus.

Ability to read maps and fair knowledge of the Ohio area. Ability to work well with minimal supervision. Ability to work well with people of all backgrounds, cultural groups and economic levels. Highly dependable and responsible; demonstrate excellent judgment; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
